LEED Information
Proven performance: nothing comes close
LEED is changing the built environment
If you’re serious about saving money, conserving energy, reducing water consumption, improving indoor air quality, making better building material choices, and driving innovation, then LEED is the best choice. Bar none.
LEED is helping to deliver energy and water efficient, healthy, environmentally-friendly, cost saving buildings, homes and communities.
KBI has been a member of the USGBC since 2007 and contributed to numerous projects that used or implemented LEED building standards and designs. Our products can help contribute up to 17 points toward certification and rating. The following categories can often be applied for and accepted on your new build or renovation project.

Stormwater Design - Quantity Control
SSc6.1 - Possible 1 point
To limit disruption of natural hydrology by reducing impervious cover, increasing on-site infiltration, reducing or eliminating pollution from stormwater runoff and eliminating contaminants.

Stormwater Design, Quality Control
SSc6.2 - Possible 1 point
To limit disruption and pollution of natural water flows by managing stormwater runoff.

Heat Island Effect - Nonroof
SSc7.1 - Possible 1 point
To reduce heat islands to minimize impacts on microclimates and human and wildlife habitats.

Heat Island Effect - Roof
SSc7.2 - Possible 1 point
To reduce heat islands to minimize impacts on microclimates and human and wildlife habitats.

Water Efficient Landscaping
WEc1 - Possible 4 points
To limit or eliminate the use of potable water or other natural surface or subsurface water resources available on or near the project site for landscape irrigation.

Recycled Content
MRc4 - Possible 2 points
To increase demand for building products that incorporate recycled content materials, thereby reducing impacts resulting from extraction and processing of virgin materials.

Regional Materials
MRc5 - Possible 2 points
To increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured within the region, thereby supporting the use of indigenous resources and reducing the environmental impacts resulting from transportation.

Innovation in Design
IDc1 - Possible 5 points
To provide design teams and projects the opportunity to achieve exceptional performance above the requirements set by the LEED Green Building Rating System and/or innovative performance in green building categories not specifically addressed by the LEED Green Building Rating System.
